The Super Visa allows eligible parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit their family in Canada for up to two years. This is a multi-entry visa that allows them to enter Canada multiple times for up to 10 years. This is a popular option because it is available year-round and has lower income requirements than the Canadian parent and grandparent program.
ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA:
- Must be a parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada;
- Must have a medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that is valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry with at least $100,000 coverage;
- Must have a Sponsorship letter from the children/grandchildren that ensures financial support for the length of your visit;
- Must have documents that prove the children/grandchildren meet the minimum necessary income.
Please note that the complete application will be assessed with regard to a number of factors that include the purpose of the visit to Canada, as well as whether parents or grandparents will maintain sufficient ties to their home country. This can be illustrated by showing family ties, finances, and other connections that lie outside of Canada. You must be a genuine visitor to Canada who will leave by choice at the end of your visit.
