The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) allows Canadian provinces/territories to nominate candidates who wish to immigrate to Canada and are interested in living in a particular province. Canada has 13 provinces and with exceptions of Northern Canada territory of Nunavut and Quebec, each province has it’s own immigration program:
- Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP).
- British Columbia Immigrant Nominee Program (BC PNP).
- Manitoba Immigrant Nominee Program (MPNP).
- New Brunswick Immigrant Nominee Program (NBPNP).
- Newfoundland and Labrador Immigrant Nominee Program (NL PNP).
- Nova Scotia Immigrant Nominee Program (NSNP).
- Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).
- Prince Edward Island Immigrant Nominee Program (PEI PNP).
- Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).
- Northwest Territories Immigrant Nominee Program (NWT PNP).
- Yukon Immigrant Nominee Program (YNP).
Each of the above PNP has at least one immigration stream that is aligned with the federal Express Entry immigration selection system and these Express Entry-aligned streams are known as enhanced nominations. The enhanced PNP award applicants an additional 600 CRS points.
The second way to obtain permanent residence through the PNP is under a base stream. Under this stream, the applicant applies to a PNP stream directly and once a provincial nomination is obtained, the federal government will process the permanent residence application.
